A collection of ramblings…

First up: life.  I just got one eye corrected with laser eye surgery and am currently half blind. It’s exciting to be able to see the clock from across the room, but my bad eye is so bad I can’t see the computer, and my good eye is still healing, so I can’t see the computer.  It sort of makes promoting a book, maintaining a blog, and even simply checking my email a chore.  There’s a contact lens “bandage” in it right now, which should be taken out later today if all is going well.  That said, I am so excited to be able to see soon.  I’ve had glasses for probably 20 years and am really looking forward to the freedom.

Next up: something I think is of great interest to fellow indie authors.  BookChart  It’s a page that tracks iBook sales on iTunes!  Thanks to this little gem I discovered that Semester Aboard hit number 44 on the iTunes.uk Top 100 Fantasy book list.  It isn’t based solely on sales, but it still blew me away.  I can’t wait for iTunes to report to Smashwords so I can see what it means!  If you have a book on iTunes, be sure to check it out!

In other Semester Aboard news, it seems to be doing well.  My sales rank from B&N moves up and down, which leads me to assume some are selling.  I’ve gotten several fantastic reviews and the sweetest fanmail ever.  She said that I’ve inspired her to try and publish a book she’s working on.  That pretty much made my life.  I mean, wow, what a compliment!

I had a dream last night that may have inspired a novella.  I might blame my medicated eyedrops.  That said, you know how once a plot-bug bites, it’s hard to get rid of.  I have the sequel to Semester Aboard half plotted.  I’m still working out some events and things.  I have a few old chapters written that need some heavy editing, but I should get to that soon.  In addition to that, I have another novel I started ages ago that is begging to be picked back up.  As soon as my eyes are functional, I hope to do a lot of writing!

And last, since I do enjoy reading and writing, I’d like to return to review favor and review some books on my blog!  Any takers?

Also, a special day in the Semester Aboard universe is coming up soon.  There just might be a chance to get it for free!  Keep your eyes peeled!
