Contest and Sequel Notes

The aforementioned contest has started!  Dani’s birthday is coming up on November 10th, so every day until then I’m offering different ways to get entries!  The prize(s) is a a free copy of Semester Aboard!  The more people who enter, the more copies I’ll add!  So, I hope to have a lot of winners!

So far, the ways to enter are to Like my page on Facebook and to Share it.  Everyone who likes it gets an entry and can also get (one per day) an entry for sharing my page.  Entries from referrals are also rolling in.  Anyone who says “So-and-so sent me” gets an entry AND the person/page who sent them gets an entry!

Every day, for the next few days, I’ll be posting additional ways to enter.  Then, starting on November 1st, I’ll start posting daily trivia about Dani with even more ways to enter!  On November 10th I’ll use random.org to select the winners!

Needless to say, I’m pretty excited!  It’s the first time I’ve done a contest like this and the entries are already rolling in!  My FB page is also closing in on 300 likes.  There might have to be an extra entry for like #300…

In other news, I started outlining the sequel!  I know certain events that happen and the overall plot, but it was nice to finally sit down and get an idea of exactly how it all plays out.  I’ll probably get the first chapter drafted sometime this month.

Speaking of November, I always intend to do NaNoWriMo.  Every year I plan to and every year something else is going on.  For the past few years, I’ve been too busy writing my own book and haven’t wanted to take time away for NaNo.  Now, I’m done!  I’m published!  And…I still don’t think I’ll do Nano.  I just started a new job, but my old one is phasing out, so I’ll have a very hectic busy schedule for a couple of weeks (today is day 7 in a row at work).  Not to mention my contest will occupy me until the 10th.  Then I’m getting my other eye treated which, if last time is anything to base the experience on, will knock me out for a couple of days and make writing impossible for a few more.  Then I’m off to a wedding, then the following week is Thanksgiving week and then…well, then November and NaNo will practically be over.

That isn’t counting all of the books I have to read!  It’s been a long time (way too long) since I’ve had a big stack of books calling my name.  Now, I have quite a few and just don’t have the time to get to them!  Alas.

But, in the end, I suppose it’s all a good kind of busy.  With any luck there will be some room in there to work on the sequel to Semester Aboard too.  I’d really like to get it written and published in a much shorter time frame than SA.

And now, off to the new job for more training!  Well…first to the bank and also I need new shoes…
