One Lucky Vampire and 10 Year Anniversary
I’m super excited to be a stop on Lynsay Sands’ One Lucky Vampire Blog Tour! I have all sorts of cool stuff, including a sneak peek, to share with you! Even better, I get to ramble about my favorite Argeneau couple – Kate and Luc!
This tour is to celebrate, not only the release of the latest Argeneau book – One Lucky Vampire – but also to celebrate the Ten Year Anniversary of the release of the first one!
Before we dive in, I want to start off with why I have a special place in my heart for this series: it got my feet wet in the world of freelance writing and was the first romance series I ever read!
After stumbling onto this series, I devoured it. I was writing freelance articles at the time for a website. I didn’t get a tremendous amount of pageviews and earned a whopping $5-9 a month off of Google ads. But, for the first time, I was making money off of my writing and I was happy. One month they had a contest: write 30 articles in 30 days. I desperately wanted to participate and wracked my brains for an idea. How on earth could I churn out 30 quality articles in as many days? I was smack in the middle of the latest book in this series when I realized I could review them as part of my 30 articles. I got hooked on reviewing them and kept doing it, even after the month was over.
While waiting on the edge of my seat for the next book, I got the brilliant idea to contact someone and see if I could request a copy to review. At the time I had absolutely no idea about the world of NetGalley and Advance Reader Copies. I was stunned, thrilled, overwhelmed, all kinds of feelings when I got back a positive reply. I was invited to be a member of NetGalley and felt like I had finally achieved some sort of tangible success in the writing world. Since then I have gotten a number of fabulous ARCs and even got to interview some authors! My husband is always embarrassed to accept packages that say AVON ROMANCE in big letters on them, but nothing makes my day like seeing that book shaped package on the dining room table.
It was all thanks to that one hopeful email I sent, all those years ago, that led to my invitation to be a part of this blog tour. In the years since I reached out to the fantastic people involved with Avon and HarperCollins, I have published two books, with more on the way. Yet, I still had a giddy fan-girl reaction when I got the email with my blog tour package! Some things never change, I suppose.
It might be worth mentioning that I am enough of an Argeneau fangirl that the main character of my books is a fan as well and I have given a nod or two to the series in my books.
But you’re here for the good stuff, right? Here’s a peek at the official blurb for One Lucky Vampire:
I won’t lie, I can’t wait for this! But, as excited I am to read about Jake and Nicole, I think I’ll always be a Lucern/Kate fan.
We go back to, I don’t know when, years ago. Must have been 2008, considering the version I have. I was walking through my bookstore and spotted a book on a rack called: Single White Vampire. Now, I didn’t read romance. I also had somehow missed the fact that Paranormal Romance existed. Maybe if I had known that, I would have been reading it long before that fateful day. I was on the way to the Sci-Fi/Fantasy section to grab a pile of books when I stopped. I read the title. And I laughed. And then I picked it up to read the back.
I was an aspiring author at the time, so I was instantly hooked when I saw that Lucern was an author and Kate was his editor. I was caught by Sands’ snark and humor just from that short cover blurb. Needless to say, I grabbed the book. And that night I read it cover to cover. When I got to the part, right in the beginning, where Lucern bangs his head and his bagged blood goes everywhere I laughed so hard I dropped the book and started crying. I was a fan from that moment on.
I expected Kate to be the typical damsel in distress woman that I assumed plagued all romance novels. But by the time she shoved her foot, and her way, into Lucern’s door I was all about her. She was strong willed and spunky. And even though Lucern was freaking gorgeous, Kate tried (but who can fight the nanos, right?) to keep it professional. She even managed to get him to go to a romance author convention and book signing! I won’t spoil it, but when Lucern ended up being the one who needed to be rescued, Kate stepped up! I loved her can-do attitude throughout the entire book.
Lucern was great from the moment he slammed the door, twice, in Kate’s face. He was definitely not the aggressor at the beginning of that relationship! He was quiet and just wanted to be left alone to write. But, considering he was earning his fame by writing romance novels, I knew he had a romantic side! He also sounded quite yummy!
The two had great chemistry together. I was used to reading books with a lot more action, but Lucern and Kate’s antics kept the pages turning. I couldn’t wait for her to figure out that he was a vampire and fall in love with him! Not necessarily in that order!
When I was finished I went right out and bought the first two books in the series. A couple of days later, I got every other book that was out. Now, I have them all in a big long line on my shelf. If I’m in the mood to just tune out from the world and read an old favorite, these are always the books I reach for. And Single White Vampire is the one I always find myself reaching for first. In fact, I think I need to reread it again…
But, you’re here for the new book! So, without further ado –
